Were you one of the food garden tourists last weekend? If so, we thank you so much for helping us raise funds to provide organic food boxes to single parent families in Victoria, and to support the work of Hleketani Community Garden in South Africa, which provides fresh local food to households and those living with HIV/AIDS. We were blessed with glorious weather, a dozen diverse approaches to food in the city, and somewhere between 300 and 400 interested visitors. The gardens showcased growing methods, creative use of small and large spaces, urban chickens, and even garden structures made almost entirely out of wooden pallets, like this chicken coop. Kudos to the gardeners, visitors, organizers, volunteers and you our loyal friends of the farm.
