There’s a self-guided Urban Food-Garden Tour of food gardens across Victoria coming up on September 12, as a fund-raiser to benefit food security both locally and globally. Come along and visit real backyard veggie gardens across the city, talk to gardeners and get inspiration for what you can grow in your own home garden. Proceeds will go to help Haliburton provide food boxes to families through 1Up, the Single Parent Resource Centre; and to Hleketani Community Garden in South Africa, which provides fresh local food to households and those living with HIV/AIDS. We’re hoping to host a couple of Hleketani farmers for a grower-to-grower exchange at Haliburton Farm in the near future.
