In 2007 the land was divided into three farming plots and the existing orchard developed into a collective space. Two experienced growers each leased one farm plot. Each grower operated a market gardening business, selling produce grown on their farm plots at local markets, and to local restaurants. The growers were selected by the Society through an application and interview process. They demonstrated understanding of the principles of certified organic farming as well as ability of creating a financially viable farming business. The third parcel of land was worked by a Farm Manager as both a teaching and demonstration farm, with some agricultural production space. The manager was assisted in the farming by apprentices, volunteers, students, the Board and community members.
In 2010 according to the farm’s Strategic Plan, a Land Use Plan and Requests for Proposals were developed for sections that opened up for renewal. In 2011 the farm grew from 3 separate farm businesses to 5.
The Food Basket Program, that was started in 2007, has grown from 10 subscribers to a targeted 60 members in 2011.
