This weekend we’ll be tipping our hat towards the end of the growing season, getting our Education Garden beds ready for the winter. If you’d like to help out for a couple of hours, we’d love to see you for our October work party, this Saturday October 9 from 10am to 12noon, at the farm, 741 Haliburton Road, Victoria.

The farm stand will also be open one last time this Saturday, laden with pumpkins and Thanksgiving produce. Meanwhile, we’ll be in the Education Garden doing some hands-on thanksgiving for what we’ve achieved this year: nearly 300 hours of volunteer effort and a healthy harvest of strawberries, tayberries, raspberries, chard, kale, tomatoes, peppers, beans, cucumbers, figs, ground cherries, chives, oregano, rosemary and snow peas. The farm’s pollinators have been feasting on the garden’s sunflowers, herbs, nigella, sea holly, allium, graceful cinqufoil and other tasty nectar sources.

On our task list this month: we’ll be weeding, mulching, seeding a cover crop and building a third compost bin from wood pallets. Care to join us? We’ll celebrate our efforts in our usual way with some tasty seasonal & thankful treats at the end of the session!

Here’s a signup form if you haven’t been on one of our work parties before:
