Is planting a food garden among your resolutions for 2018? If so, you will certainly need organically and locally grown seeds, and inspiration from local farmers and seed-savers.
Saanich Seedy Saturday kicks off the national Seedy season in just over a week’s time, on Saturday January 13 at the Horticulture Centre of the Pacific, from 10am to 2pm. It’s a gorgeous setting, and your ticket (only $5 – cash) gives you admission to HCP’s winter garden as well as the main events.
We have a full array of excellent vendors, fabulous Fairtrade coffee from Level Ground Trading, astoundingly delicious snacks from Charlotte & the Quail, and not one but two amazing speakers this year: chef-forager Bill Jones of Deerholme Farm, speaking on Gardening with Mushrooms; and Dan Jason of Salt Spring Seeds, introducing the topic of his new book: Ancient Grains & Seeds.
We hope to see you there!
