Happy new year!
Last year around this time we were getting ready to gather at the Gardens at HCP for our annual Saanich Seedy Saturday. We were lucky to have been the first of the year in Canada, and thus escaped lockdown. It was, as always, a popular, well attended and neighbourly event where visitors rubbed shoulders with seed vendors, farmers, producers and one another.
This year is of course going to be different, but Hali will still participate in a Seedy Saturday. Like so many events nowadays, we’re going virtual, and joining in the province-wide virtual Seedy Saturday event being spearheaded by our friends at Farm Folk City Folk. It’s going to take place over a weekend: February 19-21, 2021 and plans are underway to include the kinds of elements we usually enjoy: a keynote speaker, talks, seed vendors, regional networking opportunities and a seed swap.
The schedule is still being worked out, but one talk you can look forward to will be from our own Kristen Miskelly of Saanich Native Plants, who will speak on Native Seed for Gardening and Restoration.
You can check Farm Folk City Folk’s page for details, and we’ll post more information as soon as it’s available!
