This interactive workshop is designed for small-scale farmers and market garden producers who are organic curious. We will cover the basics of organic certification, and the similarities and differences between terms like ‘regenerative’, ‘sustainable’, and ‘organic’. We will discuss the benefits of certification, as well as challenges for small growers. Bring your questions! January 21st 10 am to 12 pm. - Digging Into Certification
This in-depth workshop is geared towards new organic farms, and ecological growers who are considering certification. We will discuss what to expect when certifying, and how to design your operation to make organic certification and inspections a breeze! The workshop will focus on record-keeping, preparing for inspections, and getting approval for your inputs/amendments. We will also look at the online application and renewal process through i-Certify, and demystify the various bodies and acronyms in the Canadian organic certification system.
