Our monthly farm work party is scheduled for Saturday August 14, from 10am to 12 noon. We’d love you to join us! There’s a team of regular volunteers to welcome you and show you what needs doing.
Most of our work revolves around our Education Garden, where we’ve been harvesting berries, figs, beans, peas, herbs and chard this season. Our lovely produce goes for sale on the farm stand which is loaded with beautiful organic produce and flowers from the other Haliburton farms, and will be open from 11am to 1pm (cash only) on Saturday, and experimentally for Sundays this month (same hours).
Work that needs doing by our volunteers includes: weeding (always!), harvesting, pruning and fixing up the farm’s common trails with some cardboard and wood chips; maybe do a little hand to hand combat with ivy and other invasive plants. Get (or give?) some tips about growing food plants, native plants, pollinators and organic certification while you work.
Sound good? Please just fill in our volunteer work party form so we can get in touch to confirm a day or two beforehand. (Hint: it helps us to know how many are coming so we can plan for snacks to reward your labours afterwards!)
